A Path to Life — The Summit Center Summer InternshipThis summer, the vision of the Summit Center in Chișinău, Moldova began to come to life as eight young men from the Restart Boys Home participated in our first three-week paid summer internship. But this was about far more than learning how to work.
Each morning, these young men studied the book of Galatians verse by verse, growing deeper in their faith in Jesus and their understanding of the Gospel, freedom, identity, and the new life Christ offers. They are discovering that God has a purpose for their lives—and that Jesus and His people are intervening in their story to help create a new path forward. Throughout the internship, discipleship was combined with practical job training, construction and carpentry, teamwork, leadership development, and eight essential values for life and work: Prepare, Focus, Work, Learn, Lead, Solve, Elevate, and Succeed.
For young people aging out of orphan and at-risk environments, the transition into adulthood can be extraordinarily dangerous. Jesus described an enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but He declared, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” That promise is at the heart of the Summit Center. Our goal is not simply employment. It is to help young people know Jesus, discover their God-given purpose, develop character and practical skills, become self-sufficient, and build meaningful, purposeful, abundant lives.
And This Is Just the BeginningThese eight young men represent the first step. Fifteen more young people are already preparing to enter the Summit Center, even as we continue walking alongside these eight toward greater independence, employment, spiritual maturity, and abundant living. And we believe the vision must reach much farther. Every step of this process is being documented. We are developing operational manuals, training materials, discipleship resources, and a reproducible model that can be shared with ministries serving orphaned and at-risk young people throughout Moldova.
Our dream is not simply for the eight young men you see in this video—or even for the fifteen who are preparing to follow them. Our dream is for the thousands of vulnerable young people across Moldova who need someone to help them discover another path—a path to Jesus, a path to purpose, a path toward independence, and ultimately, a path to life.
